Fredrik Stoor didn’t make the substitutes bench despite having been included in Sweden’s provisional squad for last night’s match against Portugal.

In one of the more intriguing contests in the European section of World Cup qualifying, the Swedes battled to hold Portugal to a goalless draw last night. How the referee failed to take action against the diving Portuguese attackers is beyond me. The result does neither side any favours, with both teams still perilously close to not making it to South Africa at all.

Stoor’s exclusion will provoke further worries that he may leave Craven Cottage in the summer after a disappointing first season at Fulham. He has failed to displace John Pantsil at right-back after the Ghanian made a strong start to his Fulham career and has hinted that he might need to move on if he is to regain his international place.
