It’s debatable whether this is the best news of the January transfer window.
We revealed a back in December that Danny Murphy was only a couple of games away from sealing an automatic extension to his contract. Well, now he’s signed a new one-year deal with the Whites that – alongside keeping hold of Brede Hangeland – must rate as one of our best bits of business during the mad month of January.
Murphy has been one of our most consistent performers this season, completely removing any doubt that anybody might have harboured over whether giving him the captain’s armband was the right decision. The new deal means he will remain at Craven Cottage until 2010.
