You get the impression that Roy Hodgson can’t believe his luck after bringing in Olivier Dacourt on loan.

The French midfielder made just one appearance for Inter under Jose Mourinho and injuries have meant that Fulham were able to secure a shor-term deal.

Since his time here, he’s had a very successful spell in Italy, first with Roma where he won the championship and recently with Inter, where he’s won three successive championships.

He’s been injured for the last part and that’s obviously why, to some extent, we were lucky to get him because, due to injury, they’ve taken in other players and he’s not been able to break back into the team.

For his part, Dacourt is looking forward to regular first-team football.

I came to play. The manager thinks I can bring some experience to the team and I will try to bring it.
