Chris Coleman signed Gabriel Zakuani from Leyton Orient in July 2006 for £1.5m largely on the back of a commanding display that saw the League Two side knock Fulham out of the FA Cup at the third round stage in January of that year. Zakuani never managed to establish himself at Craven Cottage, making just two senior appearances both in the cup competitions. He featured against Wycombe Wanderers in a League Cup defeat and then at Leicester City in the FA Cup before a pair of loans at Stoke City were followed by a more successful spell with Peterborough United. He signed for Posh in January 2009 for around £500,000.
