Almost unnoticed amongst all our introspection today is the fact that we’ve made our first transfer window signing: we’ve brought in Hampton & Richmond’s young striker Ben Wright.
Wright, who is 20, has only been at Hampton & Richmond Borough since the pre-season when he impressed during a trial. He’s scored thirteen goals in 27 appearances for the Blue Square South side and we’ve apparently beaten Reading and Millwall to Wright’s signature.
He’s far from the finished article and won’t go straight into the first team squad. It’s more likely that he’ll join up with the Development Squad which, come to think of it, is light on strikers.
