The Mirror has an update on our transfer targets. It appears the fee for Christophe Berra has now gone up to £3m – and the longer this drags out, the more unlikely it becomes that we’ll actually get him.

Here’s a new name for you: Jonjo Shelvey. If you haven’t heard of him, he’s supposed to be the new big thing at Charlton, who, incidentally, recorded a morale-boosting first win in 19 games at Norwich last night. Given that the piece runs to a mere few sentences, it is difficult to assess how real our alleged interest is.

The boy’s certainly special. He was pretty eyecatching in the defeat to Nottingham Forest at the weekend and, at just 16, you’ve got to think his best days are in front of him. But would Charlton sell? And would we get him? Even if it is yes to the first one, I think the lad would have his sights set a little higher than little old Fulham.
