I’m not inclined to believe everything that Harry Redknapp says. Here’s a man who has left Portsmouth for Southampton, said he had no interest in returning to Fratton Park before doing exactly that and pledging to stay with them only a month before taking over at Tottenham. He is a master wheeler-dealer, the archetypal cheeky Cockney manager and the papers have been full of rumours about him making a move for our very own Jimmy Bullard.
You’d have thought they’d be no smoke without fire. But that’s not the case according to Redknapp, who was trumpeting his early recongition of Bullard’s ability when he brought up to West Ham from Gravesend & Northfleet.
There is no truth in it. I like Jimmy. I signed him from Gravesend and Northfleet for £20,000 when I was manager at West Ham so I know all about him.
He has done fantastic and he is a great lad. He is a great character and personality and he has turned out to be a top player, but I have not made any enquiries for Jimmy. He is still under contract at Fulham.
The eagle eyed among you will have noticed that he hasn’t denied wanting him or said that he won’t put in a bid come January.
