The transfer merry-go-round seems to have gone into overdrive for Christmas.

I haven’t seen the story linking us to Kalmar midfielder Rasmus Elm, but apparently Roy was keen on taking the Swedish Under-21 international on loan in January. Elm, though, appears to be having nothing to do with it.

It is of course great that they’ve shown interest in me, but this is the wrong time in my career.

There is so much happening in my career now that I want to be a part of.

Espanyol have refuted suggestions that our former right back Steve Finnnan might be returning to England. Their coach is quoted as saying Finn will ‘be a main man for the second part of the season’. For his sake, I hope so.

And it couldn’t be nearly January without a Jimmy Bullard rumour. Tony Adams might make a move for Jimmy, but with the financial situation at Portsmouth might make paying his Supersized wages a little difficult. The £20m from the sale of Lassana Diarra might be partially reinvested in Gary O’Neill, who was sold to Middlesbrough against his wishes.

The Sun reprints Brede’s comments from his interview on Saturday. But that’s okay, though, because I won’t tire of reading them for a while.

Fresh from his goalscoring exploits on Saturday, Clint Demspey has set his sights on securing a top ten finish. Deuce reckons that being in the top half at the end of season would represent real progress compared to his previous years at the Cottage and you can’t argue with that.

My expectations for the team are to finish in the top 10. We obviously don’t want to be in the same situation we were last season. We want to be moving in the right direction because in the two seasons that I have been at Craven Cottage we’ve barely managed to stay up.

And finally, our old midfielder Lee Clark is characteristically optimistic about his prospects as manager of Huddersfield.

Promotion? Let’s have a right good go. Every single one of us will be giving their all and, if come the end of the season, we don’t make it then we’ll know that at least we gave it our very best shot.
