I sincerely doubt any of you have forgotten but today’s the day the transfer window closes.

All the indications are that it’ll be a quiet close to the transfer period for Fulham with most of our business having been conducted earlier in the summer. The one rumour from left field concerns Julian Gray, who’s now at Coventry, but was once a target for the Whites as a Crystal Palace player. What doesn’t make sense with this one for me is that Roy has already offloaded Lee Cook and Hameur Boauzza, who were two wingers with pace. Still, Sky are running it – and Gray could be a Fulham player by the time I sit down to dinner tonight.

Nothing’s confirmed with Gray, but we have said goodbye to two players so far. Gabriel Zakuani, who we spoke out only a couple of weeks ago, has gone to Peterborough on a month’s loan. He was at Stoke for the past couple of seasons but didn’t do enough to convince Tony Pulis to sign him on a permanent basis as they moved up into the top flight. Whether we’ll see him back at the Cottage – he’s played two games since signing from Leyton Orient – remains to be seen.

Collins John’s Fulham career has also come to an end. Lazy, frustrating but gloriously talented I guess we’ll all just have to muse on what might have been. John, who’s been with more clubs than I can care to recall on loan in recent years, has signed for NEC Nijmegen on a free transfer, who have a fairly sizeable Fulham following themselves. We wish him all the best.

There are rumours about Alexei Smertin, who Hodgson has told he can leave on a free, moving the short distance across the capital to QPR, but nothing seems to have come of that yet.

Hopefully, I’ll be back later on to offer a few more updates.
