Just a quick note of thanks to Kasey Keller, who has signed for the Seattle Sounders, new Major League Soccer franchise.

Keller spent last season at the Cottage after being signed just before deadline day by Lawrie Sanchez as cover for Antti Niemi. He eventually took over as Fulham’s first-choice keeper towards the end of the campaign, making some crucial saves in the run-in as the Whites secured their Premier League status but the arrival of three new goalkeepers over the close season suggested his time was up.

We’ll always be grateful for his efforts and those vital clean sheets against Reading, Birmingham and Portsmouth. For the record, Kasey made 14 appearances for the Whites. He has 102 appearances for the United States – having been part of both the 1990 and 2006 squads – and has spoken of his delight at returning home to play for Seattle.

All the best, Kasey.
