Former Fulham goalkeeper Kasey Keller to set to sign for Seattle. The veteran American custodian will be announced as the newest MLS club’s latest signing at a press conference on Thursday.

Keller, the first choice goalkeeper for the United States at the 2006 World Cup, initially made his name in English football with Millwall before moving onto Leicester City. He became the Foxes number one in 1996 and won the League Cup under Martin O’Neill a year later. Keller spent two seasons in Spain with Rayo Vallecano before returning to England and spending four years at Tottenham Hotspur.

After losing a long battle with Paul Robinson for the Spurs goalkeeping spot, he helped Borussia Moenchengladbach avoid relegation from the Bundesliga with a string of superb individual performances in 2005. He headed back to London to sign for Fulham in August 2007 and, after Roy Hodgson succeeded Lawrie Sanchez in the Craven Cottage hotseat, Keller produced some superb performances as the Whites somehow stayed up with a remarkable run at the end of the season.

Keller has long wanted to end his career in the MLS and that dream will now come true although, as Seattle don’t start competing in the American top division until 2009, there is some speculation that he may spend the forthcoming season on loan at other MLS club.
