Andy Johnson has been ruled out of Fulham’s Premier League opener with Hull.

The England international is struggling with a thigh problem and he will not make the trip to the KC Stadium.

Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson revealed Johnson had been carrying the problem since before making the move to Craven Cottage, but hopes he will recover in time to face Arsenal later this month.

“I don’t think Andy Johnson will be able to feature,” Hodgson told Sky Sports News.”He had a thigh strain when he arrived from Everton, and we don’t want to take the risk by playing him too early.

“I’m pretty sure he will be able to play against the Arsenal but against Hull we’ll have to do without him.

“Everyone else is fit and ready to choose from.”
