Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is preparing a £3million bid for Reading striker Dave Kitson, but he faces competition from Wigan.

Hodgson is ready to step up his bid to recruit Kitson after losing the services of Diomansy Kamara for the next six months.

Kamara will undergo reconstructive surgery on Friday after rupturing a cruciate ligament playing for Senegal against Liberia last month.

Kitson wants to leave the Royals following their relegation to the Championship, but Latics boss Steve Bruce is also a summer suitor.
