Fulham are reported to have made a late move in the transfer of Sweden’s Euro 2008 striker Johan Elmander which Bolton have been hoping to clinch in a record £11million.

Bolton boss Gary Megson appears confident he will pull off the coup after a price was agreed with French side Toulouse – and he met the powerful forward, who would be Wanderers’ most costly player.

Fulham were alerted to news that the deal was close yesterday and tried to step in.

But the signs are that Elmander is giving Bolton serious consideration as he plots his next move.

Bolton have let Norwegian striker Daniel Braaten go to Toulouse for talks as part of the deal.
