Fulham chairman Mohamed Al Fayed was jubilant after today’s victory at Portsmouth secured his side’s Barclays Premier League survival.

The Cottagers won 1-0 at Fratton Park – their third straight away victory – to finish above Reading on goal difference.

Al Fayed, who promised his players caviar and Viagra if they beat relegation rivals Birmingham last weekend, said: “It was a difficult game but they had determination and they fulfilled their promise to me, which is fantastic. A great result today.”

He also paid tribute to manager Roy Hodgson, adding on Setanta Sports: “We have a fantastic guy, full of humour and conscience. The result today was fantastic.

“I think he will stay for us and I hope we will (stay up) all the time!”
