Fulham technical director Les Reed was conspicuous by his absence from the Cottagers backroom team at Blackburn.

The former Charlton manager was said to be on a scouting mission at another match. Although on the following day The People newspaper ran a story that Reed had parted company with Fulham.

Reed’s position at Craven Cottage is reported to be under scrutiny after his methods were questioned following the departure of head of youth John Murtough.

Murtough joined Fulham in February 2004 after seven years with Everton, three years in their Youth Academy and then working with the first team squad.

Both Murtough and chief scout Andy Thorn, who is also on his way, have been linked with Coventry City where former Fulham boss Chris Coleman is manager.
