Steve Bruce says Wigan Athletic have turned down an offer from Fulham for Paul Scharner.
Reports have claimed that the versatile Austrian is a prime transfer target for new Fulham boss Roy Hodgson.
A £3million offer was lodged, but Latics chief Bruce has confirmed he rejected the bid from his club’s Premier League rivals.
“We have had an offer from Fulham and we have turned it down,” said Bruce in the Daily Star.
Scharner, who can play in defence or midfield, has made a significant impact at the JJB Stadium since joining from Brann two years ago.
The 27-year-old has missed just one league match for Wigan this season when he sat out last weekend’s win at Derby County due to suspension.
