Groningen captain Erik Nevland is still hoping to secure a move to Fulham before the transfer window closes.

Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson has already seen one bid for the player he managed at Viking rejected by the Eredivisie outfit.

Nevland joined Manchester United aged 19 in 1997, but he failed to establish himself in The Red Devils’ first team.

“I have always wanted to play in the Premier League and this is my chance,” he told Stavanger Aftenblad.

“I am very uncertain what will happen. I know Groningen rejected an offer, but of course I hope the club will let me go.”
