Fulham are reported to be planning a surprise move for veteran forward Jari Litmanen.

Reports emanating from Finland claim Litmanen is due to arrive in London for a short trial so that Roy Hodgson can assess the former Liverpool man’s fitness.

Hodgson knows all about Litmanen’s qualities having worked with him during his time in charge of Finland and believes he would be a valuable addition to his squad at Craven Cottage.

Former Ajax and Barcelona ace Litmanen is a free agent after leaving Swedish side Malmo and he is expected to arrive in London later this week for training.

Hodgson has invited the 36-year-old over to the Premier League strugglers and he believes Litmanen is in peak condition.

“Jari has been working hard lately and he is fighting fit,” Hodgson was quoted as saying by the Finnish Football Federation website.
