Jimmy Bullard insists that Roy Hodgson is the man to rescue Fulham from relegation even though they have yet to win under the former Blackburn and Finland boss.

Fulham are four points adrift of safety after their goalless draw at Bolton last night, when Bullard continued his comeback following a 16-month battle to recover from a serious knee injury.

Bullard said: “The gaffer’s experience is second to none. He knows how he wants us to play, and it’s different class. Everything about him is spot on – he’s just good at everything.

“He’s very organised and knows the game inside out. He gives you confidence, and as a player he inspires you. It’s great to have a manager like that, because I’m still learning the game – everyone is.”

Livewire Bullard, who fills any spare minute with fishing or golf, admitted: “Missing half the season is a nightmare. Being up in the stands watching the boys not get results is a killer – any player will tell you that.

“I couldn’t do a lot about it before, but now that I’m here, I’ll give 100 per cent to try and help us out of the position we are in. I just enjoy being out there, but we need points on the board as fast as possible.”
