Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez feels his side are ‘too nice’ after seeing them lose 2-0 at Manchester United.

Sanchez felt his side had strong penalty claims turned down when Clint Dempsey clashed with Wes Brown inside the box, but referee Rob Styles saw nothing wrong with the incident.

“It was a definite foul. If that had been outside the box, it would have been given,” he said.

“It should be given as a foul in the box. It should be a penalty.”

There was no real appeal from his players at the time and Sanchez added:

“We’re too nice a team. We accept decisions too easily.

“You do need to let the referee know especially at places like here.”

Sanchez conceded his side were lucky to escape conceding a penalty when Cristiano Ronaldo went down in the box under a challenge from Antti Niemi.

Ronaldo was booked by Styles after the referee adjudged the Portuguese star of simulation.

“They had a good claim for it,” added Sanchez. “Obviously the referee though it was simulation but I think we were fortunate to get away with it.

“It was a bit harsh to be fair.”
