Shefki Kuqi has thanked Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez for providing him with his second Premier League opportunity.

The Finnish striker joined Fulham on loan from Crystal Palace in August, and has had to wait two months for his bow after coming on as a substitute in the 3-1 win over Reading.

Kuqi explained that he did not have the backing from Palace manager Peter Taylor, but has praised the belief Sanchez has instilled in him.

“It was great to get the three points and getting out on the pitch for half an hour has given me a massive boost,” he told The Sun.

“I knew when I came here that I would have to be patient and wait for my chance. That’s why I’ve been working hard so that when my chance came I would be ready.

“I can’t thank the gaffer enough for giving me another chance to play in the Premiership.

“Things didn’t work out at Palace. I never got any back-up from manager Peter Taylor and when things go wrong you need his support. But it didn’t happen.

“I was so relieved to move to Fulham. I feel so relaxed and I am enjoying coming to work.”
