New Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy is excited by the prospect of playing regularly again.

Murphy was one of three players to move to Craven Cottage on transfer deadline day when he joined from Tottenham.

The former Charlton man admits he had a difficult time at Spurs but is looking to put that behind him at Fulham.

Murphy jumped at the chance to sign for Lawrie Sanchez’s side and hopes to get back to playing regularly this season.

“The last 12 months at Spurs didn’t go as well as I expected and I’m at the stage of my career where I’m desperate to be playing again so to do that at a good club like Fulham is great for me,” he told the club’s official website.

“The manager was straight with me. Obviously as a footballer you want to know where the manager thinks you can play and what your qualities are. He made me aware that he knows what I’m capable of, the position he wanted me to fill and what players I would be competing with to get in the team.

“I’m looking forward to the future, physically I’m fine and I’ve been very fortunate with injuries. I’m aware of what I’m good and not so good at, now I’m looking forward to putting the shirt on.”
