If you haven’t come across Moritz Volz’s magnificent website, it’s certainly worth a look. There’s a new entry in his entertaining diary section, looking back on the Shrewsbury and Tottenham games.
Our German right-back was disappointed to miss out on the starting line-up on Saturday (and judging by the abuse aimed at Chris Baird during the game, as well as on the messageboards afterwards he’s not alone). He had a run-out in the Carling Cup and also laments the recent retirement of our former not-so-Great Dane. As Volzy says, he was one of those players who thought ‘wow’ when he signed, but due to a horrible run of injuries – and the perception that he wasn’t up for the nitty-gritty of the Premiership – never fully fulfilled his promise at Fulham.
