Wigan Athletic midfielder Denny Landzaat could be sidelined for three weeks after fracturing his eye socket in Saturday’s defeat at Newcastle.
The Dutch World Cup star has been forced to withdraw from Holland’s European Championship clashes with Bulgaria and Albania.
Michael Brown is expected to deputise for him in a central midfield role when the Latics welcome Fulham next weekend.
Meanwhile, new boy Salomon Olembe is looking forward to life at the club.
The 26-year-old Cameroon international, who was a free agent after being released by Marseille in the summer, has signed a one-year contract with the Latics subject to international clearance.
Olembe said: “The particular thing about this club is that it is like a family. I see how the coach and the players live together and I think it is the kind of club I need to be at to play the football I like.”
