Mido could make his debut for Middlesbrough against Fulham, who he came close to joining, at Craven Cottage this weekend.

The Egyptian striker quit Tottenham and signed a four-year deal. He has been granted a work permit and Boro boss Gareth Southgate wants Mido to help shake up his side with his ‘edge’.

Mido is in the squad for Boro’s trip to Fulham tomorrow where Southgate’s men are looking to avoid a hat-trick of defeats this season. Boro is Mido’s eighth club in his eight year professional career.

And Southgate said: “Mido has a great pedigree and is technically very gifted. I have seen in training already he will get hold of other players and make demands.

“The squad needs an edge and I don’t mind a bit of nastiness. We are in a man’s world and we need to stand up and be counted.”
