Fulham have failed with a bid for Joe Anyon according to SkySports.

The Port Vale youngster is one of the most highly-rated goalkeepers in the lower leagues and is being tracked by a number of Premier League and Championship clubs.

The 20-year-old agreed a new deal in April which saw him commit his future to the Valiants until 2009, but Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez is hoping to prise him away.

The Cottagers are believed to have lodged a £250,000 bid, but this was quickly shunned by the Vale board.

Fulham have had goalkeeping difficulties in recent weeks with Antti Niemi injured and No.2 Tony Warner struggling for form.

Veteran Kasey Keller has since arrived, but Fulham maintain an interest in Anyon, who is seen as a future No.1 at Premier League level.
