Fulham are holding discussions with Finnish goalkeeper Antti Niemi about extending his contract with the club following their Premier League survival, according to Sky Sports.
The former Southampton goalkeeper appeared certain to leave Craven Cottage this summer after being linked with a host of Premier League suitors but appears ready to commit his future to the Londoners after successful talks with new supremo Lawrie Sanchez. The news would be a huge boost to Fulham after Niemi enjoyed an excellent first year by the banks of the River Thames.
Niemi’s agent Richard Cody told Sky Sports: “Talks are on-going and I am pleased to say they are going well. Antti is happy at Fulham and so would be happy to sign, but we have to see how things progress – but as I said things are looking good.”
