Walter Pandiani is poised for a return to the Premier League after Fulham reportedly agreed to pay Espanyol £2million for his services.

The former Birmingham striker has found some of the best form of his career since returning to La Liga last year and was part of the Espanyol team that reached the UEFA Cup final in May.

It is that form that has alerted Lawrie Sanchez and the Cottagers boss appears to have beaten off interest from VfL Wolfsburg, who made a bid of 1.7million Euros for the Uruguayan.

Fulham’s bid of 3million Euros has been accepted by Espanyol, according to Spanish paper El Mundo Deportivo, and the move is likely to be finalised early next week.

Sanchez has been in the hunt for a striker ever since taking over at Craven Cottage and may still launch a bid for Leeds and Northern Ireland star David Healy.
