Fulham are close to concluding a £5.5million deal for West Bromwich striker Diomansy Kamara — with Heidar Helguson heading to the Hawthorns in exchange, according to the Daily Mail.

Kamara, 26, has been in demand this summer, with Birmingham and Middlesbrough also submitting bids for his services.

The Senegal forward has scored 24 goals in 60 games for West Brom since joining from Portsmouth in 2005 for £1.5m. He wants to return to the top flight and, although Tony Mowbray is reluctant to sell, he doesn’t wish to damage squad harmony by holding onto an unhappy player. The West Brom boss views former Watford forward Helguson as a good replacement.
