Jimmy Bullard is ready for an intense two-week course in America to determine whether he will be fit to start next season.
The Fulham midfielder has been sidelined with a serious knee injury sustained at Newcastle last September.
Bullard will be monitored by top knee surgeon Dr Richard Steadman, who helped England striker Michael Owen overcome a similar injury.
If he passes all of his tests then Bullard will be given the go-ahead to resume full training and will be included in Lawrie Sanchez’s plans for pre-season.
Bullard joined Fulham from Wigan last summer for £2.5million, but made just four appearances before he suffered knee ligament damage in a tackle with Scott Parker.
