Fulham will bid for Scotland centre-half Russell Anderson if they miss out on Liverpool’s Sami Hyypia, according to the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old Aberdeen defender, who is also wanted by Middlesbrough and Sunderland, has one year left on his contract and any move by Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez would cost around £1million.

Hyypia will discuss his Anfield future with boss Rafa Benitez but knows his chances are now likely to be limited.

The Finn said: “If the manager wants to bring in a new centre-back, I think it is a sign for me that I won’t be playing so much.”

Hyypia, 33, has a year left on a lucrative deal at Liverpool and Sanchez is not willing to match his wages.
