Fulham defender Zat Knight was involved in an angry altercation with home fans who had blamed him with Tottenham’s opening two goals as the Whites crashed out of the FA Cup.

Stand-in skipper Knight was targeted for criticism as he left the Craven Cottage pitch after Fulham’s thrashing. The centre back remonstrated with the supporters, remonstrating with them and swearing before being held back by staff and bundled down the tunnel.

A Fulham spokeswoman said: “Zat was unhappy with his performance and what the fans were shouting. At first he shouted back only to quickly realise he was in the wrong. He then apologised to the supporters.”
