Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd urged Collins John to join his club from Fulham following the Hornets’ 4-1 win over Stockport in the FA Cup.

Boothroyd’s men came from behind in today’s third-round tie against the League Two side to move comfortably into the fourth round.

But it is the transfer market which is occupying Boothroyd’s attention the most, and he is desperate to land Dutch striker John after having a £3.25million bid accepted by Fulham.

“We have had a bid accepted,” confirmed Boothroyd. “I admire Collins John very much. He is Watford’s type of player – and my type of player – in many ways. He is young, hungry and exceptionally talented. We want him here and we want to take him to another level. It is a matter of persuading him to come.”
