Antti Niemi’s agent was delighted the Fulham keeper was not more seriously injured against Watford on New Year’s Day.

The former Southampton shot-stopper landed awkwardly in the goalless draw with The Hornets and was swiftly rushed to hospital.

Niemi’s agent Richard Cody was naturally delighted the injury was not as bad as first feared and has praised Fulham’s response to the incident.

“Thank God it isn’t as worrying as we first feared,” Cody said.

“Antti will have a scan Tuesday morning to see if there is any damage but hopefully there is not and everything will be fine.

“Great thanks to Fulham for the way they made sure Antti was okay. They reacted very quickly in getting him to hospital and the hospital were magnificent as well.”
