Fulham goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka has admitted he was nervous after replacing Antti Niemi in goal against Watford.

The Czech shot-stopper had already featured three times for The Cottagers, but it was the first time he had emerged off the bench to play.

Lastuvka was called into action following a nasty-looking neck injury to Niemi, although the Finnish ace has now been released from hospital.

“This time I felt quite nervous when standing at the goal,” he told CTK. “After I touched the ball a few times, the nerves were gone and then it was okay.

“The main thing though is that Niemi is okay. I could not be happy to get a chance in such conditions.

“I did not know until the last minute if I would be put in the game or not. The coach kept telling me to stay where I was.”
