Fulham are reported to be in the process of putting together a transfer deal for Fiorentina defender Tomas Ujfalusi.

The tabliod press claim that as Fulham boss Chris Coleman’s main defensive target Oguchi Onyewu of Standard Liege is dragging his heels about joining The Cottagers Coleman is looking to Ujfalusi as a replacement.

However Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino denied Tomas Ujfalusi was for sale.

“We are not negotiating for the player”, Corvino said. “He is not for sale in January and it will be very difficult for clubs to get him in June”.

Fulham, who were linked to an offer for Ujfalusi in the summer, believe that Fiorentina could be tempted by a £4m offer.

Ujfalusi joined Fiorentina in 2004 having spent four seasons at Hamburg in Germany and has 56 caps for the Czech Republic.
