Fulham are ready to rekindle their interest in Everton winger Simon Davies – although they want to buy him outright rather than as a makeweight in another deal.

David Moyes has previously sought to use Davies in exchange for taking Luis Boa Morte to Goodison Park, but Fulham dismissed that offer. Chris Coleman – a long-term admirer of his compatriot – has made midfield reinforcements his top priority for the forthcoming transfer window and the Everton midfielder is top of his target list.

Everton are looking to strengthen their engine room as well. Moyes has identified Nigel Reo-Coker as a possible addition, but he will need to raise funds to match West Ham’s £10m valuation. That means that a reasonable offer from Fulham for Davies could well prove successful.
