New Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws has moved quickly to complete the loan signing of Fulham goalkeeper Mark Crossley.

The Owls have secured the experienced stopper’s services up to and including the home game with Hull City on 1 January 2007.

Barnsley-born Crossley, 37, was a teammate of Laws at Nottingham Forest and has also represented Middlesbrough before signing for Premiership Fulham in 2003.

Laws said: “I’m delighted Fulham have allowed him out.  I know Mark well, he’s experienced and is a good organiser.  He brings a work ethic and a calming influence to the team and is also a good passer of the ball.”

“He did a tremendous job for Stoke when he went there on loan.

“He’s a local lad and knows what is expected of any Wednesday player. His experience and organisation and his ability will strengthen our defence.”
