Chris Coleman has promised a January spending spree, with American midfielder Clint Dempsey of New England Revolution top of his shopping list.
Fulham’s injury list grew longer this weekend with Franck Queudrue suffering a gash to his left ankle which needed hospital treatment and Carlos Bocanegra also limping off. Jimmy Bullard is out for the season while Michael Brown and Papa Bouba Diop are only “60-70 per cent fit.”
Coleman said: “We are really stretched now but there are funds available. I have identified who I want. But getting them is always difficult. I’ve been over to the States once or twice to see Dempsey. He’s a very good player, but whether or not we get him in January I don’t know.”
