Luis Boa Morte was happy to have finally recorded a victory over former club Arsenal.

The Portuguese winger arrived in England in 1997 when he signed for The Gunners before moving on to Southampton two years later.

He has spent the past five-and-a-half seasons at Fulham and is now captain at Craven Cottage.

But, prior to Wednesday’s 2-1 success over Arsenal, Boa Morte had gone nine games against his old club without a win.

Boa Morte had a hand in the decisive goal and was delighted to end his Gunners hoodoo after such a lengthy wait.

“Arsenal supporters have to forgive me for saying that, but I’ve been waiting for years,” Boa Morte told Sky Sports News.

“I have been in England for almost 10 years and I left Arsenal seven-and-a-half years ago.

“I have been waiting for this result for a long time and I did it today.”
