Tony Warner will officially rejoin Fulham next week after making his final appearance for Leeds United at Sheffield Wednesday, and the expiry of his one-month loan deal has robbed Leeds of arguably their most consistent performer to date.

Warner’s error count over five games was virtually nil, and he is a player who Leeds would have liked to retain.

The 32-year-old’s Premiership wages may have hindered a longer-term deal, however, and his continuing value to Fulham was proved by their reluctance to allow him to appear in the Carling Cup win over Chester seven days ago.
