Fulham are poised to take advantage of the matchfixing scandal currently rocking Italian football by completing a deal to sign Czech defender Tomas Ujfalusi from Fiorentina.

The Viola have been relegated to Serie B and deducted twelve points for the forthcoming campaign for their part in the matchfixing scandal, which has also seen them banned for competing in the Champions’ League. Fulham had been rebuffed in their attempts to sign the Czech international prior to Fiorentina’s punishment being handed down, but the deal is reportedly back on after Ujfalusi expressed a desire for a new challenge rather than fighting his way out of the Italian second tier.
