Kenny Jackett has moved swiftly to plug holes in his midfield by lining up a possible £100,000 bid for Fulham’s Darren Pratley.

The Swans boss said last night that the 21-year-old midfielder would travel down from London this week to discuss a possible move to the Liberty Stadium.

Jackett sees Pratley as an ideal candidate to bolster central midfield following the departure of Roberto Martinez and the news Owain Tudur Jones and Darren Way are likely to miss the start of the season through injury.

Jackett, who made an unsuccessful attempt to sign Pratley 12 months ago, said, “It looks as if we could have an opportunity to bring Darren in. I’m hopeful he’ll be down on Thursday for talks and, if they go well, we could be in a position to progress with a deal this week. In terms of the fee we’d have to pay, we could be looking at up to £100,000.”

Pratley, who has made only one substitute appearance for Fulham, spent last season on loan at Griffin Park, where he made 36 league appearances and scored five goals. The Londoner played against the Swans three times, most recently in both legs of the play-off semi-final that Jackett’s men won 3-1 on aggregate before losing to Barnsley in the final.
