Portsmouth hero Matthew Taylor has pledged his future to Fratton Park, despite interest from Fulham.

The Pompey penalty taker scored some vital goals for the club, particularly towards the end of the season, as his side put together a remarkable run of form to avoid Premiership relegation.

The 24-year-old left back has just one year left on his current deal, and has revealed he would snub a proposed £2.5 million move to Craven Cottage.

“I am happy here and have a year left on my contract, but if the opportunity arose to extend that I would be delighted to do so,” he told the Daily Mirror.

The former England Under-21 began his football career as a trainee at Luton Town before moving to Fratton Park in 2002.

He made over 150 appearances for The Hatters and has made 131 league appearances for Pompey.

News of this season’s top scorer determination to stay at the club will boost Harry Redknapp as he seeks to improve on the team’s 17th-placed finish this term.
