Martin O’Neill was spotted watching Fulham’s latest Premier League defeat next to chairman Mohamed Al-Fayed – sparking a fresh round of speculation about Chris Coleman’s future at Craven Cottage.
The popular former club captain is under serious pressure following Fulham’s 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Portsmouth and the sight of O’Neill as a VIP guest of Al-Fayed, as revealed by this morning Sunday People newspaper, suggests that the club’s hierarchy are carefully considering a change of manager. O’Neill is believed to be ready to resume a managerial career after his wife’s cancer prognosis improved and has prominent backers in the Fulham boardroom, including new chief executive David McNally.
The former Celtic manager has been a regular at Craven Cottage over the last few seasons and lives close to the club’s Motspur Park training ground.
