Stuart Pearce is reported to be interested in taking Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge, currently on loan at Fulham, to Manchester City during the summer.

Eastlands boss Pearce has been heavily linked with Fulham players in the past – having engaged in a summer-long campaign to destabilise Steed Malbranque at Craven Cottage – and he now appears to determined to try and head the queue for Bridge’s signature this summer.

Pearce hopes that an offer of around £6m will allow City to open talks with the England international. Chelsea have so far proven reluctant to consider the permanent sale of the former Southampton full back – and it is unlikely that City will be able to match Bridge’s Stamford Bridge wages, believed to be in excess of £40,000-per-week.
