Harry Redknapp admits he may have no choice but to let Matt Taylor leave Portsmouth.

Fulham have a lodged a bid for the versatile 24-year-old and Redknapp realises his departure could open the door for two new signings.

The Pompey boss said: “I don’t want to lose Matt Taylor. He’s a good player and if we can keep him we will.

“But if we have to sacrifice a player to get two in who balance the squad, we might have to do that.

“We might have to lose him to make us stronger all round as I’m short on the left.

“If Matty Taylor plays at left-back, we need a wide-left player. If Matty plays wide on the left, we need a left-back.

“There is a player abroad I like who plays wide on the left side of midfield, with a good left foot. There’s a possibility of getting him on loan.”
