Heidar Helguson bagged a brace as Fulham’s reserves sealed their second win of the season against Ipswich Town at Motspur Park tonight.

Billy McKinlay and Ray Lewington picked a strong side with Ian Pearce and Liam Rosenior featuring as they recovered from injury. Helguson, who played an hour after coming on as a first half substitute, was joined up front by Collins John and opened the scoring in the second half when he surged onto a defence splitting pass before lobbing the Town goalkeeper.

Ipswich levelled through a penalty but the hosts went back in front almost straight away through a fine finish from academy talent Yinka Casal. Helguson headed home his second goal to make sure of victory when he outjumped the Ipswich goalkeeper seven minutes from time.

FULHAM RESERVES (4-4-2): Davidson; Rosenior, Pearce, Fontaine, Green; Orelaja, James (Murtagh 60), Milsom, Casal; Sankoh (Helguson 30), John.
