Fulham are understood to close to completing a deal to take Aston Villa goalkeeper Stefan Postma on loan.

The Whites are in the middle of a goalkeeping crisis having suffered injuries to veteran Mark Crossley and summer arrival Jaroslav Drobny leaving Chris Coleman with just Portuguese teenager Ricardo Batista as an option in goal. Postma, now third choice at Villa Park after Stuart Taylor’s signing over the close season, has made just thirteen appearances in three years at Villa and the 29 year-old has spoken publicly of his hankering for first-team football.

Reports from Holland claimed that the Dutch goalkeeper was ready to return home and join NEC Nijmegen but Fulham’s goalkeeping worries could hand him a chance to remain in the Premier League.
